This page is designed to give you tools and resources to help you observe a Holy Lent. If you have questions or would like more information on anything presented here, please contact us (email or 863-686-3163).
Lent is a season of repentance and preparation leading up to Easter. It’s 40 days long – from Ash Wednesday (February 23 this year) through Easter Sunday (April 12 this year), excluding Sundays. The 40 day period is reflective of the 40 days that Jesus was in the desert wilderness fasting and enduring temptation before beginning his public ministry. As recorded in the book of Exodus, the Hebrew people also wandered in the desert for 40 years before entering the Promised Land.
Lent Prayer Time
Due to public health concerns and restrictions surrounding the coronavirus outbreak, our weekly come-and-go time of Prayer & Communion has been suspended. In its place, we offer this video of images, prayers and music for reflection and meditation. You may wish to use it during the Wednesday 10:00-10:20 timeframe, or anytime you would like to pray. Join us live on our Facebook page on Wednesdays at 10:00am.
How do you #picturelent? Receive email devotionals and daily photo prompts as assembled by the Rio Texas and Michigan Annual Conferences. Snap your photos and share how you #picturelent on your favorite social media platform. Tag your photos with #picturelent and #1stLKLD. Sign up here.

Finding God in the Everyday – the practice of the Daily Examen
The Examen is an intentional review of your day. Through guided questions, you prayerfully reflect on your day, asking God to reveal what God would have you notice. Over time, this practice can help you develop sensitivity to God’s promptings in your life, and better enable you to respond to them.
Light a candle, take a few deep breaths, and begin.
