When a loved one dies, the church’s role is to walk alongside the bereaved to provide spiritual and practical guidance. Please notify us of the death by contacting Nicole Wood (nwood@firstumc.org or 863-686-3163). Our booklet Grief Care: Your Journey to Hope can be a helpful resource during this trying time.

Planning a Service

While funerals and memorial services acknowledge grief, our focus is celebrating the deceased's life, legacy and new life in Christ. Our goal is to combine the joy that accompanies fond memories and the hope we have because of God's promise of eternal life. If you have lost a loved one, click here for information about having a funeral or memorial service at First United Methodist.

Members of the church and their immediate family may wish to consider our columbarium, a beautiful open-air structure on the church grounds overlooking Lake Morton. Composed of niches that contain cremated remains, each niche includes a bronze name plaque with the deceased's name, date of birth and date of death. Interment can be done before or after a memorial service or at a separate time. For information about the columbarium, contact Maggie Trask (mtrask@firstumc.org or 863-686-3163).
