The Many Faces of the Memory Cafe
This week during our Monday Morning Memory Cafe, families were introduced to a Collaborate Expressive Art Experience!
The process: Each person paints a circle to represent a face and then passes the canvas to the person to the right and the group decides what is next. Perhaps the first pass will be adding eyes. The process continues as the canvases are passed and new features are added to the face until the artwork reaches its original owner.
Engaging in creative processes lowers stress, provides emotional relief, boosters cognitive and social engagement, allows for those with language difficulties to have a voice, stimulates visual-spatial awareness and hand coordination, giving a powerful sense of accomplishment.
The experience allowed families to relax and bond, and the laughter acted as a powerful social glue!
