Shine On Devotional Guide
Monday: Read Matthew 5:13. Consider what it means to be the “salt of the earth.” Salt preserves and adds flavor. How does your faith influence your surroundings? In what ways do you feel you are acting as salt in your community? What hinders you from being more influential?
Tuesday: Read Matthew 5:13. Reflect on the importance of not losing your saltiness. What does it mean for a believer to lose their effectiveness? What practices help you maintain your spiritual vitality? Have you experienced times of spiritual dullness? What contributed to that?
Wednesday: Read Matthew 5:14. Think about being the “light of the world.” Light dispels darkness and guides the way. How are you shining your light? Who in your life needs encouragement or guidance from your light? How can you be more intentional in sharing your light?
Thursday: Read Matthew 5:15. A lamp is meant to be placed on a stand, not hidden. How can you ensure your faith is visible to others? What are some practical ways to showcase your faith in daily life? Are there areas where you feel tempted to hide your faith? Why?
Friday: Read Matthew 5:16. Our good deeds should glorify God. Consider how your actions reflect your faith to others. What good deeds can you commit to this week that will reflect Christ’s love? How can you encourage others to see the goodness of God through your life?
Prayer: Eternal God, thank you for calling us to be salt and light in this world. Help us to embrace our identity as your followers and to influence those around us with love and truth. Strengthen us to shine brightly, reflecting your goodness in all we do. May our lives lead others to glorify you. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
