How Big is Your God? Devotional Guide

Rev. Dr. Charley Reeb   -

Monday: Read Acts 17:22-23. Paul addresses the Athenians, noting their religiosity and the altar to an unknown god. Reflect on the cultural context of Athens and what it means to seek the divine. What are the “unknown gods” in your life? How can you recognize God in your daily experiences? Ask God to reveal himself in ways you might not expect.

Tuesday: Read Acts 17:24-25. Paul describes God as the Creator who does not dwell in temples made by human hands. Consider God’s transcendence and immanence. In what ways do you see God’s handiwork in creation? How can you honor God beyond physical spaces? Thank God for his greatness and ask for wisdom to see his presence in all things.

Wednesday: Read Acts 17:26-27. Paul emphasizes that we are call connected as God’s creation and that God desires people to seek Him. Reflect on your dependence on God. How does recognizing our common humanity impact how you view others? What steps can you take to seek God more actively? Pray for a heart that longs to seek and know God deeply.

Thursday: Read Acts 17:30-3. Paul presents the call to repentance and the assurance of judgment through Jesus. Contemplate the importance of repentance in your faith journey. What areas of your life need repentance? How does the promise of Jesus’ return inspire you to live differently? Confess any areas of struggle and ask for strength to turn back to God.

Friday: Read Acts 17:31. The resurrection of Jesus is the cornerstone of Paul’s message. Reflect on the hope and assurance found in the resurrection. How does the resurrection shape your understanding of faith? In what ways can you share this hope with others? Commit to sharing the message of hope in Jesus with those around you.

Prayer: Eternal God, thank you for the Bible that guides us and reveals your nature. Help us to seek you with all our hearts, repent of our ways, and share the hope we have in Christ. May we be bold in proclaiming your truth to others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
