I Can See Clearly Now Devotional Guide
Day 1: “I can see clearly now the rain is gone.” Matthew 9:27. The song lyrics begin with the removal of an obstacle, just as the faith of two blind men in our scripture reading is for them, whether they are physically or spiritually blind (or both). They cry out, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!” What “rain” or obstacles are currently obscuring your spiritual vision?
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I admit that the world and personal struggles are distracting me, making me blind to Your truth. Help me identify the “rain” in my life and refocus on You, the source of light and healing. Amen.
Day 2: “I can see all obstacles in my way…Gone are the dark clouds…” Matthew 9:28. Jesus didn’t heal them immediately; he waited, showing persistence in faith. Are you seeking Jesus persistently, or do you give up when things get tough?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the assurance that You hear my cries. Strengthen my persistence. When my vision is clouded and doubts arise, help me keep my eyes fixed on You. Amen.
Day 3: “Do you believe I am able to do this?” Matthew 9:28-29. Jesus asks whether they believe he can do this. Where are you struggling to believe in Christ’s power? Can you answer with a bold “Yes, Lord”?
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I believe You can do the impossible in my life. Increase my faith where I am weak, and remove my self-doubt. Let it be done according to my faith. Amen.
Day 4: “It’s gonna be a bright, bright, sunshiny day.” Matthew 9:30. The men’s eyes are opened, and their sight is completely restored. They move from total darkness, where they were once spiritually blind, to seeing the truth and light through Jesus. Reflect on areas where God has already restored “sight.” Perhaps it is being present in this moment.
Prayer: Gracious Lord, thank you for bringing me out of darkness into Your marvelous light. Help me live and walk in that light every day. May I reflect Your mercy, kindness, and love. Amen.
Day 5: “Ooh, yes, I can make it now, the pain is gone.” Matthew 9:31. Jesus charged them not to tell anyone, but they were so overcome with joy that they went out and spread His name everywhere. Consider how you can share your story of restored vision or faith with others. Are you ready to boldly testify to God’s goodness and help others come to know Christ’s saving grace?
Prayer: Holy Spirit, give me the courage to share my story of Your healing power. Let my life be a powerful witness to Your love and grace. I pray for the spiritual awakening of those around me, that their eyes may be opened to see Jesus. Amen.
