Join us for a live video conference with Zoe Empowers, a ministry to orphans and vulnerable children. We’re delighted to welcome Reegan Kaberia (Chief Program Officer of Zoe Empowers Kenya), Gaston Warner (Chief Executive Officer for Zoe Empowers) and Molly McEntire (Mission Training and Volunteer Coordinator for the Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church). They will share an update on the continuing work of Zoe Empowers.
Zoe Empowers is a ministry to orphans which empowers children to move beyond poverty. Zoe Empowers recognizes that orphans have the power to end extreme poverty. Zoe Empowers equips orphans with tools and training to overcome life threatening poverty for good. Over a period of 3 years, Zoe’s model empowers orphans and vulnerable children to become socially, economically, and spiritually strong – transforming entire communities in the process. First United Methodist Church of Lakeland has supported the work of Zoe Empowers since 2008 and has supported a number of working groups (family groups of orphans), along with supporting the expanding work of Zoe, which is now in 7 countries. Zoe has and is helping, including graduates, over 70,000 children thrive and succeed by “doing less” for them. Breaking the cycle of aid dependency, Zoe Empowers has helped children move from being beggars to bosses. This is an amazing story of how mission and ministry can be done the right way. You can learn more about Zoe Empowers and why our church supports this ministry by visiting zoeempowers.org.
This meeting will take place via Zoom. Email Missions Director Forrest White to register.
