Family Mission Trip

Details: We will leave First United Methodist on Sunday afternoon and return after the workday on Thursday. Wednesday will be a day off for fellowship and fun in South Florida. Three workdays (Monday, Tuesday and Thursday). We will stay at a local church. Work will be gleaning produce from fields and/or working in food prep/food pantries. Anticipated Cost: TBD (The only cost will be transportation and food) Age: Open to all ages

Bahamas Methodist Habitat

Details: Bahamas Methodist Habitat (BMH) is a year-round housing repair and disaster recovery ministry operating out of Eleuthera, Bahamas. Anticipate 4.5-5 workdays. Anticipated Cost: $900 plus airfare. Age: Open to anyone who has completed eighth grade is invited (BMH requirement). Please note: this trip was planned prior to Hurricane Dorian.

 

Costa Rica Mission Projects

Details: The mission team will likely do construction projects, though we might also work with children at the preschool who have been referred by social services. (The 2019 team worked with children in the morning and construction in the afternoon.) Note: We will shift this yearly mission to winter break in 2021. Anticipated Cost: $800 plus airfare. Age: Open to anyone age 16 and older.

Haiti
POSTPONED INDEFINITELY

Details: The team will visit two communities to check on clean water wells funded by First United Methodist and potentially help with projects at New Hope Hospital in Plaine-du-Nord. Other possibilities include assisting with VBS and visiting a Medika Mamba factory for better understanding of Haiti’s fight against malnutrition. Anticipated Cost: $500 plus airfare. Age: Open to anyone 16 and older. (Youth ages 14-15 may go if accompanied by parent.)
