Connections is a respite program and memory ministry that supports individuals and their families living with memory challenges by providing opportunities for self-expression and connecting friends, family and faith. Spiritual and social connectedness are key to our overall well-being. To maintain optimal health, our physical, expressive, and cognitive needs are just as important. This ministry promotes overall wellness in a social and engaging atmosphere, a stimulating and structured program for the individual and respite for caregivers, spouses or family members.

  • Connections is offered three times per year in 12-week sessions. Each session includes 24 respite days of programming, a celebration for families and participants at the close of the session and additional respite during holidays.
  • The Spring 2020 session will take place Mondays and Thursdays from 9:30am to 1:30pm January 6 through April 2. Due to supervision needed to provide a safe environment for our participants, we cannot accept drop-offs before 9:15am.
  • The fee per session is $720. Half ($360) is due at registration and the balance ($360) is due one month later. Cost Comparison: Connections is $30 per class ($7.50 per hour) while the average cost for respite care in our area is $18 per hour.

This is not a drop-in program. It meets twice weekly and registration is required. If you’d like to learn more or schedule an interview, complete the form below or contact Vicky Pitner (vpitner@firstumc.org or 863- 686-3163).
