The purpose of the United Methodist Women (UMW) is to be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ, to develop a creative and supportive fellowship and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church. There are several groups (referred to as Circles) that meet for fellowship, study and service projects. They support missions like the First United Methodist Children’s Clothes Closet, Neighborhood Ministries and Lighthouse Ministries using income from individual pledges, pecan sales and an annual Odds N' Ends sale. Our UMW also offers a reading resource program on the needs of women and children around the world. For information on how to get involved, contact Penny Schaw (email@example.com).
