Parenting Now: Creating Sacred Moments at Home for Thanksgiving, Advent and Christmas with Rev. Traci Smith
On this edition of Parenting Now, we welcome pastor and author Rev. Traci Smith for a Zoom workshop on Creating Sacred Moments at Home for Thanksgiving, Advent and Christmas. Her book Faithful Families for Advent and Christmas is out now. It is a holiday companion to her excellent and very practical book Faithful Families: Creating Sacred Moments at Home.
The holidays are going to look different this year, and what we do in the home will become that much more important as we celebrate the season and seek to grow in our love of God and neighbor. This event will take place via Zoom, and we are intentionally designing it to be interactive. You’ll have the opportunity to interact with one another in breakout conversations and in Q&A with Traci.
Here is the recording.
Raising Justice Seeking Kids
In this edition of Parenting Now, we welcome renowned author, speaker and podcaster Cindy Wang Brandt to speak on raising justice seeking kids.
Cindy is the author of the book Parenting Forward: How to Raise Children with Justice, Mercy, and Kindness. She hosts the podcast Parenting Forward and curates the Parenting Forward Conference.
Micah 6:8 says we are to do justice, embrace faithful love, and walk humbly with our God.
The last several months have brought into sharp focus many areas of injustice in our society – racism, healthcare, education, and more. How can we as parents work for a better world and raise our children to seek justice?
Here are some highlights of Cindy’s talk:
- How to have high hopes for our kids without crushing them with our high parental expectations.
- Why we don’t have to teach our kids about injustice.
- The most important thing to instill in our kids.
- How systemic change really happens.
- How we can give our children a voice and dismantle the barriers that have been constructed to squash it.
- A broader definition of activism.
- How to pave the way for your kids to be revolutionaries.
Check out the video below. The first part of this webinar was also used on Cindy’s 100th episode of her podcast Parenting Forward.
