UMMER LOCAL MISSION WORK .
a     Local Mission Trips initiated by the FIRST TEAM will invite both youth and adults to participate in local mission work during the summer.  Do mission work and sleep in your own bed at night! 

THURSDAY, JULY 10.  This mission trip will work in the home of Mrs. Gray.  We will need people of all skill levels. *Hallway in mobile home needs the floor replaced.  (Pull carpet up, replace floor, replace carpet).  *Wheelchair ramp will be replaced, from car port up to front door. *She can’t move very well, so she could use some help cleaning.  *Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Gray and sharing our love with joy!.  *Ask them:  “What could we do to help making living here easier for you?”  (light housekeeping, windows, cleaning mirrors, etc.)   *Take them home made cookies and something representing the church… a picture/post card of the church signed by the group, a devotional book.

FRIDAY, JULY 11, 3:30pm - 8:00pm & SATURDAY, JULY 12.  8:00am - 5:00pm
SUNRISE COMMUNITY DAY HOME
    
Sunrise Community day home is located off Bartow Highway in Highland City. This large facility needs some fresh paint!

THURSDAY, JULY 17. This home has a lot of damage leftover from the hurricane.   It needs a lot of flooring replaced in the living room.  There will be ceiling repair, tearing out carpet, replace boards in the floor.   There is a leak in the roof where two parts of roof come together.  There will need to be some furniture moving & prep work for the job.  *General cleaning needs to be done.  * Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Steeves.  *Take them home made cookies *and  take them something representing the church… a picture/post card of the church signed by the group, a Bible, etc.


THURSDAY, JULY 24. Wheelchair ramp.  Needs to be sealed with a water seal.  Most of the youth will be gone on this Thursday.  It’s not as big of a job as the others.   It is unknown what other ways we might be helpful inside.  *Take them home made cookies *and  take them something representing the church… a picture/post card of the church signed by the group, a Bible, etc.

ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES
a     Honduras,  this is a need for retired or current teachers for ONE MONTH, teaching English.  This is not just a summer opportunity, but can be scheduled throughout the calendar year.  If interested contact, carltonattys@aol.com.  Or, at their office: 688-5700 – please leave a message if they are not available.

ONGOING MISSIONS / MINISTRIES 
a      First Sunday of each Month Food Drive, collected items are delivered to VISTE (Volunteers in Service to the Elderly).

a     THE FIRST TEAM / HANDY HANDS, home repair and help to those in need.  The First Team meets monthly to evaluate requests and assign jobs to volunteers. 

a     L.V.I.M. (Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine)

a     Lakeland Regional Medical Center

a     P.E.A.C.E. (Polk Ecumenical Action Council for Empowerment)

a     Salvation Army

a     Talbot House

a     VISTE
(Volunteers In Service to the Elderly)
