Women’s Ministries and UMW
Women at First UMC are growing as followers of Jesus in a variety of ways.
The Women of the Vine is a group of ladies who gather for fellowship, study and support. They participate in local missions and gather regularly for social events. Visit their Facebook Page for the most current information.
We also have a number of United Methodist Women (UMW) Circles that meet for fellowship, study and service projects. The UMW’s purpose is to foster spiritual growth, develop leaders, advocate for justice, and to expand concepts of mission through the participation in the global ministries of the church. UMC supports Church Women United, Children’s Clothes Closet, Neighborhood Ministries, and Lighthouse Ministries locally using income raised from individual pledges, pecan sales, and an annual Odds ‘n Ends sale. In addition, UMW offers a reading resource program of books on the needs of women and children around the world. The UMW organization website has more info on the mission and ministry of UMW. For more information, please contact Penny Schaw, firstname.lastname@example.org. For your convenience, you may find our UMW brochure and the invitation to UMW membership here.
There are also Women’s Study groups meeting at a variety of days and times. Contact the Education Office for more information on these.
