Meet Our Senior Pastor Rev. David McEntire, became Senior Pastor of First United Methodist Church on July 1, 2007. David came to us from the United Methodist Church of the Palm Beaches where he had served for 13 years. David is a native of Atlanta, Georgia and has lived in communities in Europe, the Far East, and throughout the United States. He is a 1972 graduate of Florida State University, majoring in Psychology and Religion. David attended seminary at Duke University he began serving churches in the Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church in 1981. David has served churches in Plantation, Oklawaha, Ft. Pierce, and West Palm Beach, Florida. David married Nancy Curran of Pompano Beach, Florida in 1976. David and Nancy have three children - Katie, Andy and Molly. Katie is married and is the Minister of Mission Development at First UMC Jacksonville. Andy graduated from Palm Beach Atlantic University in May with a degree in communications and a minor in youth ministries. He is working full time with Indie Atlantic, a multimedia company he started in 2006. Molly, an education major, has completed her first year at Palm Beach Community College, and will transfer to Polk Community College in the fall. Katie, Andy, and Molly have all worked on the summer camp leadership team at the Warren W. Willis Camp in Leesburg. David describes himself as an evangelical pastor with strong Wesleyan roots. He is passionate about mission and evangelism and most of all, loves to preach. David's greatest joy is knowing that a person has come to know the love of Christ in a personal way.
