Meet Our Senior Pastor   Rev. David McEntire became Senior Pastor of First United Methodist Church on Jul 1, 2007. David came to Lakeland from the United Methodist Church of the Palm Beaches, where he had served for 13 years. David is a native of Atlanta, GA and has lived in communities in Europe, the Far East and throughout the United States. He is a 1972 graduate of Florida State University, majoring in Psychology and Religion. David attended seminar at Duke University and began serving churches in the Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church in 1981. David has served churches in Florida at Plantation, Oklawaha, Ft. Pierce, West Palm Beach and now Lakeland. David married Nancy Curran of Pompano Beach, Florida in 1976. David and Nancy have three children - Katie, Andy and Molly. David is an evangelical pastor with strong Wesleyan roots. He is passionate about mission and evangelism and most of all he loves to preach. David is a strong supporter of local and global missions which care for an support the poor and hurting. David's greatest joy is knowing that a person has come to know the love of Christ in a personal way.
